Mike Phillips Bio
Mike Phillips is the Director of Training here at Autogeek.net. Mike shares his extensive detailing experience and thorough understanding of vehicle surface care with other hobbyists and professionals at the "Mike Phillips Competition Ready 3-Day Detailing Classes, held three times a year here at Autogeek's headquarters in Stuart, Florida.
Mike Phillips Competition Ready Detailing Classes is three days of extensive, hands-on training of every aspect of car detailing. Mike covers everything you need to know to maintain your own vehicle or the vehicles of clients. If you plan to detail for profit, ACR Traning with Mike Phillips is a must. In addition to his frequent Competition Ready Detailing Classes, Mike Phillips is also the instructor of a Marine 31 Boat Detailing Class, and an up-and-coming speciality coating class.
Mike is also the host of Autogeek’s detailing how-to videos, the Autogeek YouTube Channel, and Autogeek's detailing tip segments which have featured on the My Classic Car TV show for 5 years. In recent years he has also been featured in tip segments on the TV shows Two Guys Garage with Willie B. and Kevin Byrd, Two Guys Garage with Bryan Fuller, Truck U with Bruno Massel and Matt Steele, and Motorhead Garage with Sam and Dave. Mike also hosted Autogeek’s What’s In The Garage? TV show which saw a successful two-season run on the FOX Sports Network.

Mike gained his extensive detailing knowledge while working for Meguiar’s as a Trainer for Oregon, Washington and Northern Idaho. His primary duties were to provide training for body shop, dealerships and detail shops using Meguiar’s professional detailing products. Later, he became the online “Answer Man” for the MeguiarsOnline.com detailing discussion forum as well as the primary Instructor for Meguiar’s Detailing 101 and 102 classes.
Today, Mike is one of the foremost experts on auto detailing and paint restoration.
Mike’s expertise is in machine polishing to remove swirls, scratches and other paint defects to create a flawless show car finish. Mike also teaches classes on wet-sanding, cutting and buffing custom paint jobs as well as being the only person in the industry with how-to article and procedure for restoring antique, original single stage paint on classic, antique, and special interest cars. Mike has over 1000 car detailing how-to articles to his credit and he’s constantly testing and reviewing new products on AutogeekOnline.net. He has hosted six full-length instructional how-to videos for Autogeek.
Mike has taught countless detailing classes since 1987 and has been a guest speaker at numerous car club events and car shows around the United States as well as in other countries. In the spring of 2009, Mike stepped down from his position at Meguiar’s and made the move to Autogeek.com in Stuart, Florida to take on the job of teaching Autogeek’s detailing classes. With the resources provided by Bob McKee at Autogeek, Mike now shares professional car detailing tips and techniques via the internet and television.
2015 has been a big year for Mike! In 2015 Mike was asked to be one of the Board of Directors for the International Detailing Association or IDA. Mike is also an IDA recognized Certified Detailer, (CD), Skills Validated Detailer, (SV) and Recognized Trainer, (RT).
On Septebmer 12th, 2015, it was announced that Mike Phillips and Adrienne "AJ" Janic of Overhaulin' would be hosting a new show on the Velocity Channel of the Discovery network - Competition Ready. Competition Ready will follow Mike and AJ around the country to get some of the world's most unique and expensive cars ready for the most prestigious car shows in the world. Compeition Ready will air on the Velocity Channel in March of 2016.
