Smarter Surface Science – GT1
Gtechniq GT1 brings the trusted performance of Gtechniq surface coatings into an easy-to-use, single layer ceramic coating. GT1 is designed for use on all paint finishes, paint protection films (PPF), vinyl trim, wheels and unswept glass. In the swept area of a windshield, durability is reduced to several months due to abrasion from the wipers. That means Gtechniq GT1 is a true all-surface coating that provides a single product solution to vehicle protection. GT1 is engineered to provide professional results while maintaining a simplified application experience, geared towards first-time users transitioning from traditional waxes or sealants. Don’t let the simple application mislead you. Gtechniq GT1 uses an advanced ceramic formulation that chemically bonds to the surface, creating a durable layer of protection that lasts up to 12 months. If you’re looking for tight water beading, strong hydrophobics, and a slick, glossy finish, look no further than Gtechniq GT1.
GTECHNIQ Key Product Attributes and Benefits:
- Fast, Single-Layer Application: GT1 delivers trusted ceramic coating performance in a straightforward, single-layer process. Designed for both first-time users and enthusiasts, it is easy to apply outdoors and offers an easier, faster alternative to traditional waxes.

- Outstanding Hydrophobic Performance: GT1 creates a slick surface with tight water beading that easily repels dirt and contaminants, keeping your vehicle cleaner for longer and making future washes easier.
- True All-Surface Versatility: Engineered to protect almost every exterior surface with a single product, GT1 is suitable for paintwork, paint protection film (PPF), vinyl wraps, trim, wheels, and side or rear glass (excluding windshields).
How to Apply Gtechniq GT1:
Before you begin - park out of direct sunlight (ambient temp > 40°F / 5°C). Wash the vehicle thoroughly to strip dirt, road film, and other contamination. Fully dry all surfaces, door jambs, and trim edges before proceeding. Even if the vehicle is new, a full wash, along with a chemical and mechanical decontamination process is highly recommended for the proper bond.
- Put on the provided protective gloves. Mist Gtechniq Panel Wipe onto a light grey MF1 microfiber cloth and wipe down each panel systematically. This removes residual polishing oils and ensures a direct, uninhibited chemical bond to the surface.
- Prime the applicator pad evenly with GT1. Apply to painted panels using smooth, overlapping passes in a crosshatch pattern (side-to-side, then up-and-down). Work larger areas like roofs or hoods in halves, and smaller panels in single passes.
- Watch for the coating to "flash" and separate into visible beads. Keep your eye on the coating rather than the timer, as the exact timing can vary depending on the environment – expect roughly 30 seconds in warm/humid conditions; up to 60 seconds in cool/dry climates. Using a dark grey MF6 microfiber towel, gently wipe away residue without pressing hard. Immediately follow with a second dry MF6 towel to refine the finish to a streak-free, high-gloss shine.
- Inspect each panel under direct lighting (or an inspection light) to catch high spots. Repeat across the body, then finish by applying GT1 to side/rear windows, plastics, trim, and wheels.
- Keep the vehicle dry for initial bonding. Allow 7 days to fully cure before performing your first maintenance wash.
