Long-lasting protection and deep, dark reflections.

Take durability and shine to the max with Meguiars Ultimate Paste Wax! This synthetic polymer wax offers the ultimate shine and paint protection in an easy-to-apply paste wax. Meguiars Ultimate Paste Wax brings out the best in any paint finish.

Meguiars Ultimate Paste Wax features Meguiar's Thin Film technology, which makes the wax incredibly easy to apply. The wax can be applied in direct sunlight on a warm surface - it won't affect the performance of Meguiars Ultimate Paste Wax. It's error-proof!

Meguiars Ultimate Paste Wax lasts longer than a carnauba wax and even longer than many synthetic waxes. It's formulated to offer the longest-lasting protection and water-beading. Meguiar's proprietary Hydrophobic Polymer Technology reduces surface tension so water beads and rolls off!

Okay, so I am sure most of you that are thinking about buying this product have read MANY reviews about the pros and cons of this product. Let me set the record straight on Meguiar's Ultimate Paste Wax. Most people have said "this product streaks...use it thin as possible...this product is amazing!" But what is the truth??? Is this product as good as people claim? Luckily, I'm here to tell you all you need to know! In my overall opinion, this product is the WINNING COMBINATION as far as OTC wax/synthetic waxes/sealants go. It costs more than the others in any auto parts store you would normally buy wax at, but in my opinion you definitely get what you pay for! BE PREPARED THIS IS A LENGTHY REVIEW!!! 1. EASE OF APPLICATION: Easy if you apply the techniques discussed later in this review. I also prefer the application of this paste rather than its liquid counterpart version, but you make that call. 2. BEST PAINT? Use this on black, red, silver, or dark colored paints for the best results. 3. LOOKS AND FIRST IMPRESSION: In the jar, this products looks and smells like creme cheese icing with a slight tangy note. That makes it fun to use. Yes, you can use it in the direct sunlight if you apply it thin and properly, which I will again discuss later. 4. LOOKS AND DURABILITY: As far as LOOKS go, I use two examples. I waxed a black truck, and the customer himself said I brought the paint back to life. I myself had never seen such dramatic before and after results in the direct sunlight. I then used this product on a black Tahoe, and asked the customer about how long the shine lasted and he said only about a month, but of course he ran his car through the car wash in that period of time. Therefore, I do not know how long this product maintains its shine. You make that judgment call based on how well you treat your paint job (washing, drying, etc.) For PROTECTION, don't judge this or any wax/sealant's protection ABILITIES by the water beading. Use the IMMEDIATE beads as an INDICATOR for future inspection. Clean and polished paint will bead, but we all know there is more beading that occurs with wax that repels water. There is a chemical manufacturers use to make it bead water because that's what everyone wants to see. It is a marketing technique, because wax that sheets water like Meguiar's Gold Class Liquid Wax is much better honestly if you want true protection. Dirt won't get trapped in the beads and slide all over the car, causing scratches. That being said, I used this product on my step-dad's crappy paint Ford Ranger. Mind you this was in the SUMMER (hot sun affecting product daily). Immediate water beading was very impressive. After two months the beads I first noticed were still there, but not as dramatic. Still, that was a slight indicator to me that there was still protection on the car. Three months go by, same result. Four months, almost completely gone. There's your answer. POINT: This product's water beading starts wearing off after two months, but the overall protection I'm sure will go at best four months. 5. WHAT EXACTLY IS IT? This product is a sealant, not a wax. It is strictly polymer based, as it says on the jar, "Pure Synthetic Polymer." That being said, there is not a bit of carnauba wax anywhere in it. That being said, it does still spread like a wax IF YOU USE IT CORRECTLY. 6. IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER! Waxing your car is like drinking or smoking heavily while you're pregnant. If you do that, your baby WILL be born with problems. If you use too much of this product, OR ANY OTHER WAX/SEALANT, it WILL streak and cause a visible film after you buff it off. In fact, the first time I bought it I thought I was using it properly, but then went through the whole jar in only five cars! Talk about overkill! Streak city! The paint actually grabbed my hand more than before I had waxed it too, instead of sliding or feeling slick. POINT: Proper application with ANY wax/sealant will be all you need to focus on. 7. HOW DO YOU APPLY? After countless attempts using different techniques with different results, this is what I have found works best for me... --- Use the applicator provided, and with almost no pressure, prime the applicator pad using the method Greg from Chemical Guys uses in his waxing videos on YouTube, but about half as much. Then swipe the pad once against the rim of the jar to remove excess, and go about waxing in circular motions. OH GOSH NOT CIRCULAR MOTIONS! WAIT, REALLY? Yes! Think about it. In the jar, it's just an enzyme. It needs heat and friction to activate. Therefore, using straight lined motions as recommended in so many forums, while they won't cause circular scratches, could still scratch if dirt is caught in the pad. Plus, with circular motions there is a constant blend of heat and friction created, so you are constantly activating the wax instead of using stop and go lines with half-way polymers that want to activate but can't. Therefore, you are actually "waxing" your car when you use circular motions. *IF YOU ARE JUST NOT PAYING THAT CLOSE ATTENTION TO BEGIN WITH TO KNOW WHEN DIRT GETS CAUGHT IN YOUR PAD, QUIT DETAILING A CAR!* This is strictly my opinion, but that's why you get the streaking/film because you will notice where the wax activated and where it didn't, WHICH IS EVERYWHERE! Not saying every wax will streak with straight lines, but this one definitely will. You will also be tempted to apply too heavily using straight lines when the uneven distribution happens, hence why I went through the entire jar in only five cars! --- When you run out of wax, wipe your pad against the rim of the jar in case you picked up boogers, and then slightly swipe it once inside the jar to gather wax and continue waxing. This should allow you to do one panel, maybe even two before you go back for more wax. --- What will a proper, thin application look like? Because this product uses "Thin Film Technology," it should literally look like there is a clear, thin film on your car that creates reflected sun lines ONLY, not wax lines. If you don't see that happening, or can't see the paint at all, you are using too much. You shouldn't be able to tell there is wax on the panel except because you see the sun lines reflecting off the wax. Use those lines to judge when it's time to go back for more wax. With this in mind, the wax will dry almost immediately after you do a panel, which is exactly how thin you want to apply it for easy removal. --- Removal: You can either do the wipe on, wipe off method, or do the entire vehicle in a thin film and then buff off. If you're more concerned about looks, do the WOWO method. If you want protection, do the entire vehicle then buff off that way this product has time to bond well to the paint, and then the excess can be wiped off. Do one panel at a time, flipping your towel for a final buff. You can use these same two sections of the towel for 2 PANELS, then flip your towel to two new sides. If you have waxed your car thin and properly, it will not be dusty, and you shouldn't even see the buildup on your towel. 8. HOW MANY APPLICATIONS? If the Swissvax employess recommend 30-40 cars for their average jar size of product, you should get at least 60-100 cars out of this jar. Yes, you read that right, AS LONG AS YOU USE IT PROPERLY. *Overall, this product is every penny worth what you pay for. Just use it properly as it is prone to streaking/causing a residual film. I use it regularly on customers' cars, and they love it. That's all I have to say about that!*

at long last, I got this!
Finally got the ultimate paste wax LONG after this was first launched. Even on the paste version, the thin film technology does work, although I expect that thin film thing to be more apparent on the liquid. Why just now? Too much mixed reviews especially the liquid version. I tried it on a silver car, and working it in, you can barely see the wax. I found application and removal a lot easier with the ultimate vs. NXT 2.0, it also seems to have a glassier, more polished look vs. the NXT’s more candy coated and thicker look. I also found that the Ultimate’s look is similar to Collinite 915. So far, my initial experience has been EXTREMELY POSITIVE, even if applied too thickly (as I did), removal is still easy (well, I found the heavily applied Ultimate as easy to remove as a properly applied NXT 2). I've read others' experience with Ultimate Wax tendency to smear, but so far even on a dark colored car that I did, no smearing at all. I like the shine, however, great as it is, I still see where the NXT 2.0 has the edge. The "candy coated" look seems to work well on slightly older paint, and NXT 2.0 does have depth, while the more polished, crisp and glassier look of the Ultimate Wax seems to have the edge on newer paint. Why 4 out of 5? After using this and my experience with NXT 2.0, there are aspects where NXT 2.0 is actually better. But overall, I'm loving Ultimate Paste!
ProsEase of use (easy on, easy off, and No streaking) Crisp reflections

Finally tried it...
After more than 2 years since Ultimate Wax was released, I finally got myself the Ultimate Paste Wax just yesterday. Tried it now, application is slightly easier and thinner than the NXT 2.0, and smells un-wax like. Compared to the NXT 2.0, Ultimate seems to have a glassier, more polished look. Brings out the flakes on metallic paint,
ProsEase of use, one of the easiest I've used Nice, crisp shine
ConsIncluded microfiber towel feels cheap, not that plush

No Question, The Very Best!
I have been polishing and waxing my vehicles since the Simoniz days, so I know a thing or two about quality auto wax. Simply, Maguire's Ultimate Paste Wax is the very best that I have ever used. The shine is brilliant and the protection that it affords is unmatched by any other wax that I have ever used. It is also economical, a little goes a long way. Five Stars Plus! L.G. Zeleznik

Silver Bullet of Waxes
You could drive yourself into a frenzy trying to find the perfect wax. As a big Meguiar's fan, this paste wax performs! As user friendly as you are going to find. If you are trying to simplify your life, you can't go wrong with this and the Meguiar's Ultimate Spray Wax. I apply a base coat of the paste wax, then use the spray wax weekly for that fresh waxed look in a fraction of the time to lay down a coat of paste wax. It is amazing what modern day chemical engineering has given us when it comes to surface car care! When you add the fact that this wax will not break the bank, it is a sure winner. Not the only winner out there, but unless you enjoy sifting through thousands of car wax reviews, then go with this one!

I love this stuff
I have used serveral different waxes. This was very easy to apply and remove. It left the finish extremely shinny on my dark red car. Strangers mentioned how shinny and clean my car looks after a week of not washing it. Swirl marks disapeared too and smells great.

Awesome sealant
Great sealant. Easy on and off. A nice deep shine and can be layered. Meg's #26 layers nicely over Ultimate Wax for great results. The durability is great too.

Took the opportunity on a 55 degree day over New Years weekend to apply to a two day old Dodge 2500 Laramie Longhorn. It applied effortlessly and with proper microfiber removal clothes was removed as effortlessly. Had rain the last few days and the beading action is incredible. Hope it lasts as long as it claims. Will post again in three months on its lasting ability.

Really nice synthetic paste wax!
Today I was able to give the Ultimate Paste Wax a try for the first time on a new customer detail and I have to say I think I've found a new favorite. The key to using this stuff is to apply it as thin as possible. My method of applying is so lay the applicator pad in the tin and with almost no pressure I twist the pad ever slightly. Then I'm on my way to applying it to the vehicle's paint. The reason I'm giving this a 4 is because I haven't had a chance to test the durability yet and from what I'm hearing the durability isn't as good as some other sealants or synthetic waxes I've used such as Blackfire Wet Diamond. We shall see though. Bottom line is if you have streaking issues with this stuff then you're applying too much. A tin of the paste should last you for quite a few years!!
