Optimum MDR is a thick gel that spreads thin
Optimum MDR is a thick gel that's easy to apply by hand.
Minerals, particularly calcium and magnesium, are what constitute “hard water.” Hard water is responsible for water spots and that green ring around your bathtub. The calcium and magnesium actually harden inside pipes (called “scale”) and on other surfaces, including your vehicle. When you park next to a sprinkler, or rinse your vehicle with hard water, you could be dousing your vehicle with hard mineral deposits.> Optimum MDR Mineral Deposit Remover removes these mineral deposits, leaving your paint clean and shiny.

Optimum MDR Mineral Deposit Remover can be used on all hard exterior surfaces including paint, glass, chrome and wheels. Application is as simple as applying quarter-sized amount of MDR onto a applicator pad and working the product into the surface for 30-60 seconds. Wipe off the residue and check to see if the surface is clean and free of mineral deposits. Wash the surface to remove any remaining residue and apply your favorite car wax, like Optimum Car Wax.

Didn’t work
I had a small area of watt spots near the rear wing of my 911 and used this as indicated on the directions and it didn’t work. Repeated as said, still didn’t work. I was hopeful because the spots look superficial but it literally did nothing.

Economical Mineral Killer
This stuff it potent! "A little goes a long way" is an understatement. Being that it's a gel, it is a bit difficult to spread with a microfiber towel or pad, so use a foam pad/applicator. I use this with every detail I do and with a very soft foam pad on a DA. The DA seems to lather it up and make it spread much further. No water spot that hasn't etched deep into the clear has stood a chance. Also, this works great for cleaning microfiber cutting and polishing pads. Had some old MF pads that were stained red from Meg's D300 and it all came out with a touch of MDR. Use very little, I can go around an entire car, glass, paint, and all with 2 oz.
ProsConcentrated gel Economical Cuts through minerals quickly
ConsCan be difficult to remove if you apply too much. So long as you spread it thin and don't over apply it's easy. Also neutralizing it with an APC further aids removal.

Optimum MDR Mineral Deposit Remover 8 oz.
The product works well but is more difficult to remove than ordinary wax or polish. I had to go over it three times with clean micro fiber towels to get all of the residue off. It does remove MOST of the hard water stains I had on the hood of my black truck but they can still be seen if you look hard enough. I think this is the best it can be unless I have a detail shop use their power buffers on it but I don't want to take the chance of having the paint damaged.
ProsWorks best on light contamination.
ConsDifficult to remove.
