Griots Garage Brilliant Finish Synthetic Clay

The next level of clay – in the palm of your hand!

Griots Garage Brilliant Finish Synthetic Clay is a handheld clay alternative that provides a thorough clean your car’s paint. Lasting a whopping 4 times longer than traditional clay bars, Griots Garage Brilliant Finish Synthetic Clay effectively removes all surface contaminants from your paint quicker and easier than ever before. Manufactured using a specialized rubber coating on one end and a dense sponge-life foam on the other, Griots Garage Brilliant Finish Synthetic Clay is a unique take on clay bar alternatives.

By now, we all know how important claying your vehicle is. Thanks to contamination by iron particles, bird droppings, tree sap, and just everyday road grime, our paint is a lot dirtier than we may think. Sure, it looks great after a wash, but just out of human eye-detection lurks something more sinister and it’s important to remove that stuff before going about your detail.

For years, all detailers used traditional detailing clay to deep clean paint. While effective at removing surface contaminants, sometimes it seemed that the cons outweighed the pros. Just one example is having to throw out your clay bar if dropped. Griots Garage Brilliant Finish Synthetic Clay is the answer to your detailing clay woes – instead of a new clay bar, simply rinse in water!

The specialized rubber coating, in a diamond-plate design, grabs at surface contaminants and easily removes them from the surface. And instead of having to knead and pull at your clay until a clean surface appears, you can simply rinse Griots Garage Brilliant Finish Synthetic Clay in water and continue with your decontamination!

The red foam handle is a thick soft sponge, completely paint safe, that can double as your lubricant while washing. Simply allow the foam to absorb soapy water. Once loaded, it can be squeezed while running the Synthetic Clay across your paint’s surface to release more lubricant! No more stopping and starting!

Griots Garage Brilliant Finish Synthetic Clay can be used with Griots Garage Speed Shine in a spray and wipe application, or with Griots Garage Brilliant Finish Car Wash in a car wash application to prep your paint for the next level of detailing.

Toss old clay bar collection and upgrade to the latest in paint decontamination with Griots Garage Brilliant Finish Synthetic Clay!

Fast and effective
Purchased recently and used today for the first time. 2016 Honda Pilot is garaged and well maintained to start. Washed with Meguires car wash soap first. Emptied bucket and refilled with fresh suds (but not too strong) to provide the lubricant. Seemed very effective and was much, much quicker than traditional clay process. Fished with a spray on sealant (Zurich seal). I've been wanting to try this type of product for a while. Liked this price and the shape of the grip.
ProsFast, workes as intended. Easier to use than clay.
ConsNone so far.

Works great, but not 100% perfect.
I used this to decontaminate my Geranium Red 2015 Hyundai Elantra Limited. The car was a 2 year lease vehicle before I bought it and even though it's still in fantastic shape, I wanted to put a good fresh coat of wax on it for the summer. I used Meguiar's Quik Detailer as a lube for the Griot's Synthetic Clay after a thorough hand wash with Meg's Gold Class car shampoo. I was amazed at how much smoother the surface felt after using the synthetic clay! Smoother than glass, even. (It definitely needed to be clayed.) However, I did find several stubborn bug stains and a few small tar spots that also remained stuck to the paint that I was hoping the synthetic clay would remove. I did rinse the clay surface with plain water between panels but I couldn't tell how much dirt it was actually picking up, like you can with a traditional clay bar. Overall though, it did make a big difference and it was really easy to do. I followed up with a coat of Meg's Ultimate Liquid Wax and my car looks awesome!
