3M Perfect-It ll Rubbing Compound Fine Cut 16 oz. - 39002
Remove fine scratches, oxidation, coarse swirl marks and water spots!
Here’s your antidote for the mildly neglected car. 3M’s most versatile rubbing compound is aggressive but safe against fine scratches (grade 1200 or finer), light to medium oxidation, pesky water spots and coarse swirl marks. The super-fine cut abrasive wears down sharp edges and smoothes out the paint’s surface, preparing it for a polish or glaze, followed by a protective wax.
3M Perfect-It ll Rubbing Compound is easy to use by hand or with a machine. A professional-grade product, it should be used with caution by novices. Used properly, it is safe for all solid, metallic and clear coat finishes. Once you have addressed the problem area(s) with Perfect-It Rubbing Compound, you must complete the process by following up with Perfect-It Swirl Mark Remover or Imperial Hand Glaze, then seal and protect it with your favorite wax.
I keep this Rubbing compound among my detailing supplies at all times. Those accidents that inevitably happen—key scratches on the trunk, accidental wash-induced swirl marks, water spots from afternoon showers—gone! Everyone should have a quality, multipurpose compound like Perfect-It Rubbing Compound in their stash.
3M Perfect-It II Rubbing Compound contains no waxes or silicones, and is environmentally safe. It is also body shop safe and paintable. Great for the professional or enthusiast!

I really like this product. Worked very well on light to medium scratches. I used it with an orange Lake County pad, and my Porter Cable polished.
ProsEasy to use. Works very well, inexpensive.

Too many fillers

Yet another over-rated, over-priced 3M product. I purchased this for purposes of mild paint correction, and ended up having to correct the heavy swirl marks that this product created. It's tough to get off, and leaves behind heavy dust once it does. It's also tough to clean off of foam pads. I happily sold what I had left of this product at a garage sale for $0.25.
