I first began using Optimum's No Rinse Wash [no wax] and this product about a year ago. I was very skeptical and hesitant at first, especially since two of my cars are black which means that any scratches caused by improper washing are more noticeable than with lighter colors or silvery gray colors. But both formulae proved very effective and no scratches. I decided that I liked the "with wax" formula better since it imparts a bit of shine/protection and feels a little less aggressive to my skin when using it.
My user technique is somewhat different from the directions given by Optimum. I first wet down the vehicle with a hand-held pump up sprayer containing this "no rinse" solution, then wipe down each panel with a small microfiber clothl that has been dipped in a wash bucket filled with this "no rinse" solution and equipped with a Grit Guard, and follow that by wiping the panel dry with a soft microfiber towel. I rinse out the wet microfiber wash cloth after each panel, and frequently flip/fold the microfiber wash cloth as I make passes across a panel so as to not drag a dirty cloth across the panel. I work from the top down, and do lower quarter panels, rocker panels and the painted aluminum wheels last, and for those use an separate drying towel.
Pros:Works great for general road dust and greatly extends time between need for regular full water washing.
I've also found the solution made from this product very effective at cleaning up power tools in my wood working shop. For that purpose I simply spray on some solution, then wipe with a dry microfiber towel. Makes them look nearly new, again.
Cons:Not such a good idea where the dust on your vehicle is road salt unless you take precautions not to contaminate your wash bucket solution with salt as you rinse your wash cloth between panels.
This limitation can be mitigated by first saturating many small microfiber wash cloths with the Optimum No Rinse Wash & Wax solution, then using a fresh wash cloth on each different panel and collecting them in another "dirty cloths bucket." Alternatively, you could set up a separate water rinse bucket and use it to rinse out your dirty wash cloth after completing one panel, then rewetting it in the bucket with Optimum No Rinse Wash & Wax solution, but this is more cumbersome and risky.
