Old Wax Beats Newest "Upgrade"
June 15, 2016
I have been using #26 since the mid '70s on my '76 Accord (First Year). I have on and off tried other waxes. None of them beat #26. Recently I went to Autozone and they no longer stocked #26. I bought Meguiar's Gold Class, Carnauba Plus. It went on and came off easily but it didn't give the depth of shine of #26.
I guess it comes down to improvements in ease of wax removal are not improvements to the quality of protection and shine.
I have a picture of the hood of my S2000. When you look closely the hood edges are not in focus, the clouds in the sky are in focus. That is a seriously deep shine.
Pros:Great shine, excellent durability and protection.
Cons:You can put it on and remove it immediately, but don't get the same protection. If you let it dry the dust needs to be cleaned off. If you let it set for an hour it takes some effort to get it off but you get improved protection. Hey! If I can do it at 66 years old you can do it.
