Depending upon the severity of the defect in the surface of the plastic that you are working on, you may elect to work with light abrasive wet sand papers to remove deep imperfections prior to polishing with the Professional Plastic Restoration System. Over-aggressive use of wet sand papers will quickly remove material and possibly create a weakness or distortion in the surface.

The Professional Plastic Restoration System has the ability to removing 600 grit and finer sanding marks.

Please note: This kit is not intended to remove large chips or nicks in plastic. Damaged areas may be repaired if substructure has not been penetrated.

For best results, clean and dry foam pads between each step.

Chips, very deep scratches and gouges : Begin with step #1. Deep scratches: Begin with step #2. Minor scratches: Begin with step #2. If scratch persists, you may choose to wet sand very lightly with water-soaked 600 grit wet sand paper and then repeat step #2. Hairline scratches: Begin with step #3 Swirls: Begin with step #5

Before you begin, clean the area that you will be working on with plastic cleaner and a microfiber towel to remove dirt and other loose contaminants.
  1. Presoak wet sandpaper in a solution of non-alkyd-soap and warm water. Start with 320 grit and proceed to 400 grit and 600 grit respectively. Sand in straight lines only and inspect the surface often as you work. Your goal is to remove the surface defect while removing he least amount of base material possible. (Please note: Sanding is an optional step for severely scratched lens covers. The sandpaper is not included in this kit.)
  2. Spread a small amount of PP-1 Heavy-Cut over an approximately 1 sq. ft. area using the orange cutting pad. Polish surface for about three minutes, only using the weight of the machine without applying any additional pressure. Polish in perpendicular motions (up and down, back and forth). Repeat as necessary until defect or sanding marks are removed.
  3. Clean surface thoroughly with plastic cleaner and a microfiber towel. Spread a small amount of PP-2 Light-Cut over an approximately 1 sq. ft. area using the orange cutting pad. Polish surface for about three minutes, only using the weight of the machine without applying any additional pressure. Polish in perpendicular motions (up and down, back and forth). Repeat as necessary until previous polishing pattern has been removed.
  4. Clean surface thoroughly with plastic cleaner and a microfiber towel. Spread a small amount of PP-2 Light-Cut over an approximately 1 sq. ft. area using the white polishing pad. Polish surface for about three minutes, only using the weight of the machine without applying any additional pressure. Polish in perpendicular motions (up and down, back and forth). Repeat as necessary until previous polishing pattern has been removed.
  5. Clean surface thoroughly with plastic cleaner and a microfiber towel. Spread a small amount of PP-3 Polish over an approximately 1 sq. ft. area using the white polishing pad. Polish surface for about three minutes, only using the weight of the machine without applying any additional pressure. Polish in perpendicular motions (up and down, back and forth). Repeat as necessary until previous polishing pattern has been removed.
  6. Clean surface thoroughly with plastic cleaner and a microfiber towel. Spread a small amount of PP-4 Final Polish over an approximately 1 sq. ft. area using the white polishing pad. Polish surface for about three minutes, only using the weight of the machine without applying any additional pressure. Polish in perpendicular motions (up and down, back and forth). Great Product
February 19, 2010
Plan about 90 min. to allow for prep and all four steps. I restored the headlights of a 2005 Solara that were significantly dull. I began by using 600 wet/dry follwed with 1500 wet/dry. Then I used all four compounds as directed. The results were outstanding, they really looked as good as new. Use compound sparingly or you will just thow the excess off the disk.

Great products and thorough instructions
September 1, 2009
I used this kit on a Mercedes ML320 with severly oxidized and peeling lenses, the owner had to leave their brights on just to see at night. After wet sanding with 320, 400, 600, and 800 I followed every step of this kit with a corded drill, and the results were amazing. They looked 90% of a brand new set of lenses! The customer is very happy, and can now drive at night safely once more. Great product, easily worth the money over those other "headlight restoration" kits that are a complete joke.
