BLACKFIRE Duo

Use BLACKFIRE and create “whiplash” with the perfect pair!

When BLACKFIRE Duo Kit is used your vehicle will have a rich shine that shimmers with energy. BLACKFIRE SRC Compound and SRC Finishing Polish remove swirls and oxidation while improving the paint’s gloss and depth. Once wax is applied over this corrected finish, it shimmers! Use the BLACKFIRE Duo with a circular/rotary polisher for the best results.

BLACKFIRE formulas are the result of over twenty years of research with state-of-the-art polymers from Germany, Sweden and the US. All BLACKFIRE products are surface-friendly and VOC compliant in all 50 states. These water-based formulas clean, condition, polish and protect without the strong solvents found in most car care products.

The BLACKFIRE Duo includes:

BLACKFIRE SRC Compound
BLACKFIRE SRC Compound was designed to remove deeper (1500 - 2000 grit) swirls, scratches and defects in ceramic particle and scratch-resistant clear coats. Like SRC Finishing Polish, BLACKFIRE Scratch Resistant Clear (SRC) Compound is manufactured in Germany by Menzerna, for BLACKFIRE. It is the same compound used at the OEM level by German and domestic automakers. SRC Compound is designed for machine application with either a dual-action or circular machine polisher. Most 2000 grit and deeper swirls, scratches, spots and defects in ceramic particle and scratch-resistant clear coats cannot be removed by hand.

For best results, apply BLACKFIRE SRC Compound with a circular/rotary machine polisher set to 1000 rpm using a CCS Orange Light Cutting Pad. These German pads are used at the OEM level on ceramic particle and scratch-resistant clear coats.

BLACKFIRE Scratch Resistant Clear Coat Compound works on all hard and conventional clear coats.BLACKFIRE SRC Clear Compound can be use on all newer technology, scratch-resistant clear coats. DO NOT use on pre-2005, conventional clear coats. Softer, traditional clear coats should be polished with BLACKFIRE Gloss Enhancing Polish. If you are not sure about your 2005 or 2006 vehicle, you can check with your dealer to see if it came with a scratch resistant clear coat. If your vehicle does have a scratch resistant or nano, ceramic particle clear coat, always use BLACKFIRE SRC Finishing Polish first to try and remove the defect. SRC Compound should only be used to remove deeper scratches and paint defects that SRC Finishing Polish could not remove.

After compounding, the surface may have a dull, hazy finish. This is called compounding haze and is a normal byproduct of compounding. After compounding, make sure to use BLACKFIRE SRC Finishing Polish with a clean, polishing pad to remove compounding haze and restore surface gloss.

BLACKFIRE SRC Finishing Polish
BLACKFIRE SRC Finishing Polish applied with a FLEX XC3401 VRG Orbital Polisher. In 2005, BLACKFIRE approached the Menzerna in Germany and asked them to create a state-of-the-art, ceramic clear coat polishes for the enthusiast aftermarket. Working with Mercedes Benz, Menzerna developed a compound and polish to remove defects in the new nano, ceramic particle clear coats. The result of the Menzerna-Blackfire collaboration is BLACKFIRE Scratch Resistant Clear Finishing Polish. This formula offers the do-it-yourself enthusiast many advantages: BLACKFIRE SRC Finishing Polish will restore gloss and remove minor defects in nano, ceramic particle clear coats. It will restore gloss and remove minor defects in the super-hard, scratch resistant clear coats. It can be applied by hand, dual-action polisher or circular polisher. (However, machine application is required for maximum defect removal in ceramic particle clear coats.)

SRC Finishing Polish will remove any existing wax or sealant and burnish the finish to a mirror-like shine. Applied by machine, it will remove 2500 grit swirls, spots and scratches without hazing the finish. We now whole heartedly recommend BLACKFIRE Scratch Resistant Clear Finishing Polish for use on all clear coat finishes.

Application by hand:

  1. For best results, make sure to apply with a Microfiber Applicator.
  2. Start with a quarter-size amount of polish to the pad.
  3. Make sure to mist the pad once with pad lubricant or water.
  4. Work on areas of 2 - 3 sq. ft., not in direct sunlight.
  5. Make sure to wipe polish over surface using short, firm, strokes until polish starts to dry.
  6. Wait a few moments for a haze to form.
  7. Then buff off the residue by hand using a clean Microfiber Buffing Cloth.

Application with a dual-action machine polisher:
  1. For best results, work on areas of only 3 - 6 sq. ft., (1/2 of the hood), out of direct sunlight.
  2. Apply BLACKFIRE SRC Finishing Polish using a Lake Country CCS White or Green Foam Polishing Pad.
  3. Make sure to mist pad once with Foam Pad Lubricant or water.
  4. Apply an X line of polish on the pad.
  5. Using the foam pad, spread polish over the surface with the machine off. (This coats both the pad and the surface with polish.)
  6. If using the Porter Cable 7424XP polisher, set the speed control between 4 and 5.
  7. Place foam pad on the paint and turn the polisher on.
  8. Make sure to work over the surface in an overlapping back and forth motion until polish starts to turn clear.
  9. Then buff off residue by hand using a clean Microfiber Buffing Cloth.

Application with a circular/rotary machine polisher:
  1. For best result, work on areas of 3 - 6 sq. ft., (1/2 of the hood), out of direct sunlight.
  2. Apply BLACKFIRE SRC Finishing Polish using a Lake Country CCS White or Green Foam Polishing Pad.
  3. Make sure mist pad once with Foam Pad Lubricant or water.
  4. Apply two, 8 inch lines of polish on the paint.
  5. Using the foam pad, spread polish over the surface with the machine off. (This coats both the pad and the surface with polish.)
  6. Set the speed control at 1,000 rpm.
  7. Place foam pad on the paint and turn the polisher on.
  8. Work over the surface in an overlapping back and forth motion until polish starts to turn clear
  9. Buff off residues by hand using a Microfiber Buffing Cloth.

Finally, we recommend that after final buffing, make sure to open all doors, the hood and trunk and wipe body panel edges. Mist a detail brush with a quick-detail spray or residue remover and brush around emblems. Larger body moldings and wheel arch moldings can be cleaned with a quick-detail spray or residue remove or do what body shops do: mask off these moldings before you start polishing. Soak dirty foam pads in a bucket of soapy water (or with Detailer's Pro Polishing Pad Rejuvenator), agitate pads with your fingers, rinse with fresh water, hand squeeze out excess water and allow pads to air dry. After polishing, finish with a coat of your favorite wax or sealant. BLACKFIRE SRC Finishing Polish is VOC compliant in all 50 states.
