Generic, overpriced PLASTIC plate
May 24, 2013
The description of the college plates state they are on a heavy stainless steel blank. So I was irritated and disappointed that I received a generic laser cut plastic plate instead. That's not what I wanted, and I can get a plastic tag almost anywhere for $15-20 cheaper. I get the distinct impression of a fly-by-night outfit, drop shipping products from the manufacturer and using the descriptions provided without reviewing or editing them before posting. I'm done with Autogeek.
Online description of the college plates (not contradicted anywhere on the site except the Bama tag states it is plastic, but no other college tags do):
"Show your support for your favorite college team with College NCAA Stainless-Style License Plates.
These tags have a definitive robust feel. We start with plain black, or gold or silver mirrored top-quality, mirror-polished stainless steel (#304) then add a mirrored and/or opaque logo which is permanently adhered to the surface for a striking three-dimensional finish. The robust feel translates to sturdiness and durability. Blank plates weigh approximately one pound and are approximately 1 mm thick."
