|Pure water creates a clean, spot-free finish on your vehicle!|
Water can be your vehicle’s best friend and its worst enemy. Water is necessary to clean your vehicle but pesky water spots can really ruin a glossy paint finish. The culprit is not the water itself; rather it’s all the minerals that exist within every drop of water. These minerals remain on the paint long after the water has evaporated and they etch permanent spots into the finish.
Prevent water spots before they start with the Clear Inline Hose Filter Canister and Water Softner Filter Cartridge. Water naturally contains a long list of minerals and sediment that are not filtered out at the water treatment plant. If you have well water, then you’ve really got minerals in your water. The Clear Inline Hose Filter Canister with the Water Softener Filter Cartridge is a compact unit that attaches directly to your Inline hose and removes unwanted minerals and sediment as the water passes through.
Minerals, particularly calcium and magnesium, are what constitute “hard water”. Hard water is responsible for water spots, poor-lathering shampoo, and that green ring around your bathtub. The calcium and magnesium actually harden inside pipes (called “scale”) and on other surfaces, including your vehicle. When you rinse with hard water, you could be dousing your vehicle with hard mineral deposits. The only way to prevent hard water deposits is with a water softener.
The Clear Inline Hose Filter Canister can be fitted with either a water softener or a filter cartridge to give you clean, clear water for washing your vehicle.
Sediment is rust or sand that is inside water pipes. A broken water main miles and miles away can allow sand to enter your water supply. Likewise, a little rust anywhere along the water line can flake off into the water. This is why your household faucets have filters. Needless to say, sand and rust hitting your paint finish should be avoided. A filter will remove fine sediment and protect your vehicle as you wash it.
Water Softener Filter Cartridge (not included) – This cartridge neutralizes calcium and magnesium in the water, thereby eliminating hard water. Your car shampoo will lather better and your vehicle will be free of those nasty water spots. This cartridge can be renewed and reused indefinitely.
If you have hard water and you’re concerned about sediment, consider a two-part filtration system. Install one Clear Inline Hose Filter Canister with the sediment cartridge closest to the water source. Install a second filter further down the line with the softener cartridge. Sediment is filtered out of the water first and then it is softened before exiting the hose. This setup will require three hoses.
A water softener works by replacing the calcium and magnesium ions with sodium ions. Sodium ions are “soft”. They don’t produce scale and they don’t stain. They change the actual texture of the water, making it feel “slippery”. This causes water to sheet off the vehicle more effectively. Water that remains on the vehicle will not leave spots.
Sediment Filter Cartridge (not included) – This cartridge is made of five micron spun poly. It traps fine sediment as the water passes through so that nothing hits your vehicle but pure water. If you don’t have a hard water problem, this cartridge is all you need.
The Clear Inline Hose Filter Canister is made of durable plastic with hose-adapter fittings already installed on the unit. You will need one hose to deliver incoming water and one hose to take the water from the filter to its final destination (your vehicle).
If hard water is preventing you from achieving the perfect finish, invest in your paint’s future with the Clear Inline Hose Filter Canister. With two cartridge options, you can eliminate minerals and sediment in your water to render a spotless shine with every wash.
The Clear Inline Hose Filter Canister includes:
Mounting adapter with screws
Accessories (Not Included)
3 ft. Water Hose - Installation of one Clear Inline Hose Filter Canister requires two hoses. Insert the 3 ft. hose between the spigot and the filter. This small hose makes the installation look neat and tidy because there’s no long hose to coil up. From the filter, connect your regular hose to complete installation.

2 ft. Water Hose - If you opt for the two-part filtration system, purchase the 2 ft hose in addition to the 3 ft. hose; one goes from the spigot to the first filter, the second hose goes between the two filters. You can then mount the two filters on a wall to keep them off the ground and out of the way.
2 lb. Filter Rejuvenating Tablets – Regenerate your water softener cartridge with these tablets. To use, pour the tablets into a plastic dishpan or bucket; use enough to cover the bottom of the pan. Cover the tablets with water. Put the softener cartridge in the water and let it soak overnight at least. The tablets will dislodge the calcium buildup on the resin and replace it with sodium. Replace the cartridge in the filter unit and it will be almost as good as new.
There’s no telling how long one water softener cartridge will last. It depends on the hardness of your water. We recommend keeping at least 2 lbs. of tablets on hand and an extra water softener cartridge. When one is recharging, you can use the other cartridge so you don’t have to go a day without soft water.
