CCS 4 Inch Foam Pads turn your electric drill into the perfect spot buffing & polishing machine!
Lake Country’s CCS Low Profile 4 inch Foam Pads are flat full contact buffing pads that work with your circular polisher, dual-action polisher or electric drill to correct problem areas in automotive paint more easily than ever before. The CCS pads’ user-friendly features provide better control, less product waste, and a more successful detail.
These pads are 7/8 of an inch thick. They are perfect for the Polishing Pal or for spot correction using your electric drill.
CCS Foam Pads help reduce product waste. Lake Country has improved upon the basic pad design with CCS technology, which slows the rate of product absorption and saves polish. With conventional foam pads, polish is absorbed into the foam rather quickly. This reduces the working time with the polish and may give you disappointing results. A build-up of chemicals inside the foam will also cause the pad to dry out more rapidly.
CCS stands for Collapsed Cell Structure. The face of a CCS pad is covered in strategically placed pockets. These pockets are locations where the foam cells have been closed. Polish does not absorb into these closed cell pockets, leaving more product on the pad's surface and on the paint. This polish-saving design gives polishes a longer working time, which results in more successful detailing.
CCS foam pads work on every type of paint, from conventional clear coats to the harder, scratch-resistant clear coats used by Mercedes Benz and the Ford Motor Company. Lake Country's foam compositions, combined with the right chemicals, provide you with a prescription to correct almost any paint imperfection on any paint finish.
What are the benefits of CCS Technology?
 - Slows rate of polish absorption – As discussed above, the pads are slow to absorb products and therefore the paint benefits from a longer working time. The same is true of liquid waxes and sealants.
- Improves operator control – CCS pockets gradually release polish as needed by the operator. Since these areas are not absorbing polish, they serve as little reservoirs until the excess polish is needed.
- Prevents pad skipping – CCS pockets reduce surface tension allowing the operator to run pad flat on a working surface. Basically, the CCS pockets break up the smooth surface of the foam to eliminate the sticking and skipping that occurs when two perfectly flat surfaces meet.
- Creates less heat – CCS pockets provide several points where the foam is not completely touching the paint. This reduces friction and therefore heat generated between the pad and the paint.
- OEM approved – OEM tests confirm CCS pads out-perform convoluted pad designs.
CCS foam pads provide ample surface contact to effectively work the paint. The CCS pockets are small so they don't affect the amount of foam continuously touching the paint during operation.
The longer working time afforded by the CCS pads allows you to work problem areas with greater success. The pockets reduce the amount of heat created so, even though you're working the paint longer, there is no additional risk to the paint.
CCS 4 Inch Spot Buffs Pads are ideal for correcting paint defects in particular spots on your vehicle without abrading the blemish-free paint in the surrounding areas. Have you wanted to remove a small scuff or scratch but your smallest polishing pad was 6.5 inches? Its times like these that you need to have 4 Inch CCS Spot Buff Pads in your detailing arsenal.
If the majority of your vehicle’s paint looks like new, with the exception of oxidation or small scratches in isolated areas, there’s no need to compound whole thing. It’s possible to create swirls in perfectly good paint by using an overly aggressive pad. With CCS Spot Buffs, you are able to address the problem areas while not creating new ones.
CCS Spot Buffs can be used on a circular polisher, dual-action polisher using a DA adapter and can even attach to your electric drill! The smaller polishing surface means you’re only attacking the blemish, not the surrounding paint.
We offer a special drill adapter that screws into your drill and the available 2 ¾” backing plate (see the bottom of the page to purchase adapters and backing plates). This backing plate has hook & loop for quick pad changes, just like standard backing plates. CCS 4 inch Foam Pads are recommended for 12 or 18V electric and cordless drills with an output no greater than 3000 rpm. Because those RPMs are concentrated into such a small surface, too many RPMs will increase the risk of burning paint. On a low speed, this is extremely unlikely.
Likewise, when using CCS Spot Buffs on a circular polisher, do not use them in excess of 1000 rpm. A Porter Cable dual-action polisher has a varied motion, measured in orbits per minute and not rotations per minute, so you can afford to set the speed slightly higher, between 3 and 4.
We offer CCS Spot Buffs in these varieties; read below to see which pads will work best for your vehicle.

CCS Low Profile Yellow Cutting Foam 4” Pad -
Use this pad to
apply compounds or polishes to remove severe oxidation, swirls, and
scratches. It is the most aggressive and should only be used on oxidized and
older finishes. Always follow this pad with an orange or white pad and a
fine polish to refine the paint until it is smooth. |

CCS Low Profile Blue
All Purpose Foam 4” Pad – This is a multi-purpose pad used for
applying glazes, polishes, and waxes. It’s made of closed-cell foam that
will distribute a thin, even layer. The foam has no cut and is dense enough
to spread paste waxes.

CCS Low Profile 4 inch Foam Pads are a great value. They work like the bigger pads, but they are made to handle individual blemishes. If you only have a few isolated scratches, there’s no need to buy a polisher and over-sized pads. CCS 4 inch pads attach to your electric drill using a special adapter so you get powerful polishing action on a small scale.
If you already have a polisher, you can take advantage of the small size of CCS Low Profile 4 inch Foam pads by purchasing the appropriate backing plate.
CCS Low Profile Spot Buffs are manufactured by Lake Country Manufacturing. All pads feature Velcro® brand hook & loop fasteners to secure the pad to the backing plate.
Please Note: CCS Low Profile 4 inch Foam Pads require the 2 ¾” rotary backing plate shown below for use on circular polishers. Use a DA adapter with the rotary backing plate or buy the 3.5" Dual Action Flexible Backing Plate to use these pads on your Porter Cable 7424 or other dual action polisher. The drill adapter is required for electric drills. *Always tighten the adapter into the backing plate using a 3/4 inch wrench.
Pad dimensions: 4 inch diameter, 7/8 inch tall
